Welcome to October’s installment of the monthly recap newsletter! While October was more relaxed, it set the foundation for exciting events happening in the upcoming months.

Member of the Month

First, we would like to recognize our October Member of the Month: Samantha Fontanilla! We are so grateful for our Academy for Allied Health Sciences representative from Union. We are grateful that she stayed on top of Healing Hugs, as evidenced by her collection of over 60 stuffed animal donations. She has been our most active member this month, and she is such a pleasure to have on our team. Congratulations, Samantha!

Healing Hugs Update

Our Healing Hugs stuffed animal donation drive has continued to grow, thanks to gracious supporters like yourself! We have received over 60 stuffed animal donations this month. You can follow along with the count at this link. If you wish to donate or help out, please donate via the locations listed at iynj.org/hugslocations or through our Amazon wishlist.

501(c)(3) Milestone

This month, we officially became a 501(c)(3) organization. This means we can reinforce the broader reach and potential of IYNJ because we have the formal backing to further our mission across the beautiful state of New Jersey. This affirms our commitment to public good and enhances trust among donors, sponsors, and volunteers. Once again, thank you to Haughey Brothers Landscaping and our wonderful volunteers for allowing this to happen; you all played a vital role in our progress, and for that, we will forever be grateful.

New Town Representative

Finally, we appointed one new town representative this month: Anthony Ortega! Anthony is a sophomore from the Donald M Sr. Payne School of Technology and will be representing Elizabeth. We are so thankful for him taking this initiative and wanting to help our ever growing organization.
