Wisdom Wednesday #11 - Reflections and Resolutions

Reflect, Reset, and Renew: Closing 2024 With a Purpose.

Merry Christmas, everyone! It is December 25, meaning that this is the final Wisdom Wednesday edition of 2024. I am overly glad I embarked on this journey with you all. As this is the final time I will be writing this year, I wanted to emphasize the importance of looking back on what happened these past twelve months and how healthy it is to create positive goals looking into 2025.

First of all, I would like to extend a warm thank you to all readers of Wisdom Wednesday. You all motivate me to continue writing about contemporary issues that are more than important to discuss. Reflecting on topics that I feel strongly about has been thought-provoking and has grown me as a person. Once again, thank you all.

As we look back on 2024, take a moment to reflect on your personal journey. What were the highs that brought you joy? What were your lows that challenged you to grow? These were the moments that shaped who you are today—the lessons learned, the relationships lost or gained, and the obstacles you needed to overcome. Be kind to yourself as you acknowledge your progress and identify areas to improve on. Do not rush this process to give yourself a healthy, accurate evaluation.

Looking into 2025, be sure to set achievable, specific goals meant to improve your well-being, self image, and growth. Demotivation in regards to goals stems from them being unspecific, meaning you do not know where to start or track your progress. When this happens, you find out that the goal you set is unattainable and overwhelming. Instead of saying “I want to be healthier”—which is vague and immeasurable—say something like “I will cook at least one healthy meal a week” or “I will go on a 30 minute walk everyday.” Doing this crafts intentions that are clear, meaningful, and realistic.

Please also remember that there will be setbacks along the way as progression is never linear—and that is okay. These goals need to be approached with patience and grace too. Don’t be too hard on yourself when goals aren’t met instantly or perfectly—life is a journey, not a race.

Finally, as we prepare to enter a new year, take a moment to be grateful for all that you have and will accomplish. Gratitude can transform how we view the past and approach the future. Let 2025 be a year where you can appreciate and focus on joy, growth and kindness.

Thank you again for letting Wisdom Wednesday become what it has. I cannot wait to see what 2025 brings for all of us. I wish you all a joyous, healthy holiday season with a bright, fulfilling new year!
