Wisdom Wednesday #12: The First Day of a Springing Year
How can you prepare for the New Year?
Happy New Year! I am tremendously grateful for this year and for having the opportunity to embark on this journey with all of you! I hope you benefited from this Holiday Break to reflect on the past year. However, the hope that lies within the first cast day of a year is benevolent. Thus in this week’s edition of Wisdom Wednesday I’ll attempt to offer guidance on planning among other mechanisms or methods you can utilize to manifest or goal-make for 2025.
Firstly, before elaborating on specifics, the pure importance and purpose of this very special and spiritual day to many is praised and supported. This introductory confinement of time serving as a day gives this writer and billions time to breathe and recenter. I understand how the passing year could have been a triumph in itself; thus I’d like to commend and thank you all for having survived and grown through this time. There is ambition and futuristic ideas for the new year being thrown all over the air today and this ambiguity could lead to deteriorating sentiments such as fear for the new year and that’s okay. I wish to emphasize how crucial acknowledging the being you wish to be and your desired impact during this time. However, despite the common belief of how the first day or first couple days of a new year solely gives the required prerequisite energy demanded to successfully create a ‘dream’ year, it is superb to let go of that pretense and tell yourself you can restart whenever for you can and will with your motive. From personal experience, a human can live more than a thousand lives in the span of an existence. From Christian or Western doctrine, you are able to be rebirthed, and taking this ideology from a secular or journalistic stance, with just your will to become a-new you are to become what you yearn for, a new person.
Furthermore, I’d like to give some methods I and the individuals around me have used to their advantage when structuring this year. I agree that it is an overwhelming task to try to plan out your whole year so I hope and pray that these tips can assist you in this process.
Stating Affirmations
During the time that your time you might be brushing your teeth, washing your face, or once you're off to bed, et cetera, simply saying certain phrases, prayers, or whatever verbal thing that can help you start your day or end your day by just stating out load can benefit you greatly by possibly uplifting your confidence, purpose, love, or just anything you need support in. Affirmations are supposed to be creative, direct, and intense thus I can’t give you examples since this is a very internal practice.
Creating a Vision Board
By going on a website like Pinterest or simply looking up pictures of Google’s image tool you can comprise a collection of visuals that correspond to your aspirations this year. When you successfully create your array of images pertaining to certain initiatives you hope to accomplish, you can put them all together on a platform like Freeform or any editing software. This is a great practice for understanding what you desire for 2025 and to keep you on track. Printing this and hanging it on your wall or downloading and attaching it to your wallpaper so you’re frequently reminded of your goals can make this method more effective.
Planning
Planning your days out by simply making a list of objectives you wish to accomplish or putting events, meetings, et cetera, you either need or want to attend can assist you greatly in following your progression. You can utilize Google Calendar or a planning journal or both to follow this method.
Making a list of goals
As dull and obvious as it seems, to comprise a list of goals by going on a note-taking platform like Notes or Google Docs or utilizing parchment can grant you focus and clarity on your objectives for the year. Frequently analyzing this list can also make this method more beneficial.
As always, thank you for taking the time and energy to read this edition of Wisdom Wednesdays. To reiterate, your work and progress are always appreciated by the writers of this project. Make sure to give yourself grace, especially during this intense time of planning. Take it as you can, do as you are able, love yourself this year more than you’ve ever had, and make yourself a priority among these visuals, affirmations, lists of goals, plannings, or whatever method you chose or curate to best suit you.
With much love,
